Using Material Variants from mySAP PLM as Product Variants in mySAP CRM

Use

In this release of mySAP Customer Relationship Management (CRM), you can replicate material variants from mySAP Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) as product variants in mySAP CRM. You can use product variants in mySAP CRM orders and in SAPMarkets Internet Sales and display the accompanying configuration data on the Internet Pricing and Configurator (IPC) interface.

Product variants are particularly useful if specific configurations of a configurable product occur frequently. During interactive configuration, the SAP Internet Pricing and Configurator (IPC) can offer product variants that are similar or the same as current configuration. It offers to replace the configurable product of the accompanying order item with the product variant. If the product variant totally agrees with configuration and the item category is customized accordingly, the product variant will automatically replace the configurable product.

In this release, there are two different methods of finding variants:

  • An exact search
  • A fuzzy search

The exact search only finds variants that totally agree with the current configuration and can be used for a large number of variants for a configurable product. The fuzzy search is only suitable for a certain number of variants (ca. 100) for each configurable product but can also find similar variants.

As of this release, you can now also use product variants in the SAPMarkets Internet Sales catalog. You can display the options available for the product variant during interactive configuration with SAP IPC, but you cannot change configuration of the product variants.

Restrictions

  • Only single-level product variants are supported.
  • You can only use product variants that were maintained as material variants in mySAP PLM.
  • You can only select one of the search methods for each SAP IPC system. You cannot use an exact search for some products and a fuzzy search for others.
