FIN_GL_DIR_CASHFLOW: Business Function Determination Direct Cash Flow (New)

Use

As of SAP enhancement package 7 for SAP ERP 6.0 (SAP_FIN 607) SP00, the business function Determination Direct Cash Flow is available. With this business function, you can use SAP Liquidity Planner (LP) to create raw data for a direct cash flow statement that tells the uses and sources of cash, by purpose (liquidity item) and by organization.

This business function enhances the existing SAP Liquidity Planner function as it allows you to freely add and populate organizational dimensions for the uses and sources of cash. Before, there were only the organizational dimensions for Company Codeand Business Area.

Effects on Existing Data

This business function changes SAP Liquidity Planner (LP) as follows:

  • The tables for transactional LP data (line items and totals) are enhanced with a DDIC Include structure FLQ_EXTENSION which carries the additional organizational dimensions. The fields in this structure become new logical key fields for the transactional data. SAP delivers this structure with one field that is important for consolidation, the trading partner (VBUND). Other fields are to be added in customer-specific implementation projects.
  • The existing liquidity item assignment transactions From FI Payment Documents (FLQAC) and From Invoices (FLQAD) cannot be used in combination with the enhancement. They are replaced in SAP menu by the new transaction From Document Chains(FLQAF).
  • The new transaction FLQAF is based on the same principles as From Invoices(FLQAD). It follows the FI document chains from top (actual/bank line items) via middle (vendor and customer line items) to the bottom (expense and revenue line items in invoices), and derives the liquidity items and organizational dimensions for top by evaluating the middle and bottom line items.
There are two main differences:
  • Transaction FLQAF can work with the extension structure.

  • Transaction FLQAF handles N:M relationships between payments and invoices in a different way. While transaction FLQAD is quite broad and evaluates all connected documents, the new transaction FLQAF is narrower and makes an early decision which connected documents to consider, which to ignore.

  • In SAP menu there is a new node Preview for Liquidity Forecast. This function enhances the existing Cash Management Forecast data with liquidity items and organizational dimensions.

Effects on Data Transfer

The existing BW Extractor for LP was not enhanced.

Effects on System Administration

If LP is already set up in a system, there are typically regular FLQAD background jobs. If you want to use the extension, you need to replace them with FLQAF jobs. As a prerequisite, variants and rules for FLQAF need to be set up:

  • FLQAF reuses the main settings for FLQAD: Queries and query sequences for liquidity item derivation, info accounts (transaction code FLQC7 or FLQINFACC) but with small differences.
Queries no longer distinguish between the first and the second assignment step but between vendor/customer and G/L line items; reconciliation accounts for vendor/customer down payments are no longer automatically considered as final Info.
  • The assignment exit functions (to be entered on the selection screen) are also slightly changed.
For example, you can now use the exit functions to manipulate data that are sent into the Query sequence for evaluation. You can also populate the new extension fields (delivered VBUND and added by the customer).

Effects on Customizing

Customizing activity Settings for FI mechanisms (transaction code: FLQC13) which contains settings for the assignment transactions FLQAC and FLQAD, is replaced by the Customizing activity Settings (transaction code: FLQC13F) under the node From Document Chains.
