Delivery group correlations in bills of material

Description

You can combine individual sales document items for a delivery by forming delivery groups from the required items.
If an item has several schedule lines with quantities that have been confirmed after an availability check, the system uses the date of the last (in terms of time) schedule line, from the delivery group overview, as the delivery date for that item.
When the system forms a delivery group, it deletes the earlier schedule lines from the combined items in the document. It then copies the confirmed quantities into the last schedule line.
The following new functions are available in Release 4.0A for delivery groups with bills of material:
As soon as the materials are available for all the items in the bill of material, and if a complete delivery is not required, the system creates a correlated schedule line.
This allows you to make a partial delivery on the first date on which all items in a bill of material are available.
In other words, on the first date on which all items in a bill of material are available, the system issues a confirmed quantity.

Example

The following example shows how a correlated schedule line is calculated:

Matl staging Rec. Ordered Correl. steps for new date Qty Qty schedule line

Material | 1. 2. 3.

10 PCHead01 13.08.97 10 10 |

01.10.97 | 2,5 <---

08.10.97 | 2,5 <---

20.10.97 | 5 <---

15 PCItem01 13.08.97 10 |

01.10.97 5 | 2,5

08.10.97 | 2,5 <---

10.10.97 5 |

20.10.97 | 5 <---

20 PCItem02 13.08.97 20 |

01.10.97 5 | 5

06.10.97 5 |

08.10.97 | 5 <---

20.10.97 10 | 10

25 PCItem03 13.08.97 40 |

01.10.97 10 | 10

08.10.97 10 | 10

14.10.97 10 |

16.10.97 10 |

20.10.97 | 20 <---

The quantity ratio in the bill of material is 1:1:2:4. The 1.10.97 is the first date with something confirmed for all items. Item 25 has the smallest quantity, taking into account the quantity ratio.

Therefore the following quantities are confirmed for 1.10.97:

  • Item 10: 2,5 Remainder from 13.08. 7,5
  • Item 15: 2,5 Remainder from 01.10. 2,5
  • Item 20: 5 Remainder from 01.10. 0
  • Item 25: 10 Remainder from 01.10. 0

The next date is 6.10. from item 20. However nothing is available for item 20 on that date. So the next correlation date is used - the 08.10.:

  • Item 10: 2,5 Remainder from 13.08. 5
  • Item 15: 2,5 Remainder from 01.10. 0
  • Item 20: 5 Remainder from 06.10. 0
  • Item 25: 10 Remainder from 08.10. 0

In item 20 nothing is available for item 15 on 10.10; or from item 25 on 14. and 16.10. Therefore everything is confirmed on 20.10 from item 20.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites for correleated schedule lines for bills of material in delivery groups are:

The delivery group may:

  • only contain one bill of material,
  • not contain any fixed quantities,
  • not contain any items with partial delivery indicator C (one-time delivery),
  • not contain any items that have been partially delivered,
  • only contain items that can be partially delivered.
  • The delivery group may only contain items that have no more than one
    requested schedule line.

Effects on System Administration

In Customizing for item categories, you can control that the system creates correlated schedule lines in the delivery group for an item category in the bill of material main item by setting indicator A in the Create delivery group field.
