Shipping: Shipping Deadlines
Description
In Release 3.0, additional shipping deadlines have been linked to the delivery or shipment on the basis of mini network planning from project management. This makes it possible to plan and monitor the delivery and shipment deadlines accurately.
You can now predefine a planned start and completion date for the deadline function using the corresponding times of day in the delivery and shipment document (in the document using the menu path Header -> Deadlines). The deadlines can be confirmed using the actual start date and the actual completion date including the time.
Additional specifications can be stored on a deadline detail screen:
- Reason for deviance
- If deviations occur between the actual and planned dates, they can be documented with the reason for the deviance.
- Points
- You can specify a location for each deadline.
- Long texts
- A long text can also be stored for each deadline (Goto -> Long text)

Effects on Customizing
The following new setting options have been included in Customizing:
- network type (order type for shipping deadlines)
- The network type specifies the order types for shipping deadlines and contains certain parameters (for example the number range) which control the execution of an order.
- The standard SAP R/3 System contains Network type SD01 for shipping deadlines.
- Assigning the network type to a plant
- The network type is to be assigned to a plant.
- Profile maintenance per network
- Depending on the delivery or shipment type, you can store a profile with the relevant data for every network in the system. The network profile can, for example, specify the plant, the MRP group, or the automatic activity numbering of the shipping deadlines. The network profile is assigned in separate settings as follows:
- assignment to delivery types
- assignment to shipment types
- Maintaining deadline functions
- In Customizing, you define the deadline functions for which you can enter the start and/or end date in the delivery and shipment document.
- Maintaining reasons for deviance
- In Customizing, you may define reasons why discrepancies between actual and planned dates may have arisen.
Further settings are used in Customizing for configuring shipping deadlines:
- Transportation connection point
- The transportation connection points are part of the route definition. Further information on configuring transportation connection points can be found in the Implementation Guide in Section "Define transportation connection points".
- Number range maintenance
- A separate number range (object AUFK) which is connected to the network type is needed for the deadlines. The number range can be maintained when you maintain the network types.
- The function module SD_DEADLINE_PRINT_VIEW is for printing or for evaluating deadlines.
