FIN_ACC_GC_RESTAT: Stepwise Equity Method (New)

Use

As of SAP enhancement package 6 for SAP ERP 6.0 (SEM-BW 736), you can use a special logic in a multilevel group or consolidation group that meets the following requirements:

• If an investee unit U that is consolidated using the equity method reports equity holdings adjustments, this is not only to result in investment values being updated for direct investors A, B, C... of the investee unit, but this investment adjustment is also to be added to the data reported for the equity holdings adjustments of direct investors. This results in an effective value for the equity holdings adjustments of these direct investors.

• The investment adjustment for the next hierarchy level up (in other words, for direct investors A, B, C, ...) is then to be made based on the effective equity holdings adjustments.

• The corresponding postings are to be made in the subsequent consolidation activity for equity-method investee units only.

• Minority interest is not to be posted.

• Within a multilevel group or consolidation group, all units (with the exception of the parent company) are to be consolidated using the equity method.

In the consolidation workbench, a new Stepwise Equity Method node is available under Consolidation Functions -> Consolidation of Investments -> Settings.

Using this option, you can specify the top node, that is, the top consolidation group of the consolidation unit hierarchy to which you want to apply the new special logic.
