Changes in SEM-BPS for Release 3.1A

Use

Status and Tracking System

You can control and monitor the planning process in your company with this new function. Both the status monitoring and the execution of individual planning applications are realized as Web applications which you can execute in a Web browser. We recommend Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher for the use of the Status and Tracking System. The use of Netscape 6.01 or higher is also possible (with restrictions in the interpretation of stylesheets).

Variables

Variables can now be used not only for the replacement by characteristic values, but also to replace values of attributes, hierarchy nodes, or any numbers. In the replacement types, the additional possibility was created to replace the variable by those values for which the user has an authorization.

Characteristic Relationships

It is now possible to store characteristic relationships in the definition of the planning area. A combination check, a derivation, or a combination proposal can be controlled with corresponding parameterized layouts.

Copy Planning Function

The behavior was changed in the copy planning function. Previously if the option 'Overwrite existing data' was selected, then only the data was overwritten, for which the (source) data was also available to be overwritten. The behavior was changed so that now all the data is overwritten, which could result from copying.

Example: Fields to be changed: Posting period; Fields for conditions: Profit center. Parameter group copy: Condition profit center = 1005, reposting posting period 1 to posting period 2. With the old behavior, the values in posting period 2 were only changed if records were available in period 1. Now the data is set to zero if no records are available in period 1.

Distribution Planning Function

In the planning functions of the type distribute with reference data and distribute with keys, there is now the possibility to select that only the value is distributed which is not yet assigned in all fields to be changed.

Evaluation Planning Function

This new planning function type generates plan data on the basis of different characteristics and key figures, which can be related to each other with the help of definable key figure schemes.

Reposting Planning Function (Characteristic Relationships)

There is the new reposting planning function on the basis of characteristic relationships. This function is used to update already posted transaction data after changes to the relationships or the master data of the characteristics concerned.

Global Planning Sequences in Planning Profiles

Previously in planning sequences, all the global planning sequences were automatically available. This was changed as follows in release 3.1A:

  • In already existing planning profiles, the global planning sequences remain available, so that upward compatibility is provided. You can remove unrequired sequences from the profile.
  • In newly created planning profiles no global planning sequence is contained as the default setting. You can add the desired sequences to the profile.

Further Changes

Conditions for planning functions can now also be specified using hierarchies and attribute values of characteristics.

In global planning sequences a planning step can now call up a gloabl sequence.

The programming interface to SEM-BPS (function group UPC_API) now contains functions to read variables and hierarchies.
