SAP Bidding Engine (Enhanced)

Use

As of SAP Supplier Relationship Management 7.0 (SAP SRM 7.0):

  • RFx response modification is available to RFx documents based on preceding documents;
  • Response modification items (alternative items, substitute items, and supplementary items) are taken into consideration during the bidding event and included in the ERP follow-on documents
  • Enhanced hierarchical structures can be created and existing ones modified in RFx and RFx response
  • Certain SAP Materials Management-External Services Management (SAP MM-SRV) line type indicators are supported.

RFx Response Modification

You can now enable bidders to use RFx response modification in RFxs based on a preceding ERP purchase requisition or shopping cart (SC) in SAP SRM.

Hierarchical Structures

Outlines are now available to organize complex service requirements into hierarchies. You can use this feature in RFxs, based on an RFx template that allows a hierarchical structure, and RFx responses if the purchaser has enabled the option Bidder Can Add New Items. Entire structures (outline and line items) can also be transferred from the SRM-MDM Catalog. For more information, see the release note Hierarchies (Changed).

Bidding Event and RFx Response Modification

The following processes are now supported:

Starting Point ERP

Purchase Requisition -> RFx -> Purchase order (including RFx response modification items)

Starting Point SRM

SC -> RFx -> Purchase order (including RFx response modification items)

Consequently, once a Bidder submits an RFx response and the purchaser accepts it, the purchaser can generate a purchase order (PO), or a contract that includes the RFx response modification items.

The initial requirement for the purchase requisition in ERP or SC in SAP SRM is also filled using the PO line items that have formed the basis of the RFx response.

Supported SAP MM-SRV Line Type Indicators in RFx and RFx Response

When an RFx is created with reference to an ERP purchase requisition, and the line type indicators, (Line Types, Alternatives, or Line Categories) are used, then these line type indicators are displayed on the UI for the RFx and the RFx response. To ensure that the ERP functionality of line type indicators in SAP MM-SRV is reflected in the RFx and RFx response, the following functionality is supported for:

Line Type indicators

  • Standard Line
Functions as a standard SAP MM-SRV service item in SRM.
  • Blanket Line
Quantity of the service item is set to 1, and the field is disabled in RFx and RFx response so that the bidder cannot change the quantity of the line item.
  • Contingency line
Total value of the document does not include the value of this service line.

Alternatives

  • No Alternatives
Bidder is allowed to propose a supplementary item to this service line, but is not allowed to propose alternative or substitute items.
  • Basic Line
Treated as a normal service item, but the Purchaser can suggest alternative items.
  • Alternative Line
In the bid award, the standard behaviour applies (Purchaser selects either the basic line or the alternative line).

Line Categories

  • No Line Category
Does not influence SRM functionality

Supported SAP MM-SRV Line Type Indicators in Follow-On PO

For cases when service lines are set in the ERP purchase requisition for SAP MM-SRV:

  • The line type indicators Standard, Blanket, and Contingency in the follow-on PO are the same as in the corresponding purchase requisition.
  • The No Alternative indicator is set in the follow-on PO if one of the following conditions applies: the corresponding indicator in the purchase requisition is No Alternative; the Basic line is accepted in the RFx response; the Alternative line is set in the RFx response.
  • The No Line Categories indicator is set if the corresponding indicator in the purchase requisition is No Line Categories.
  • The Bidder's line is set for awarded lines if the Bidder has proposed alternative or substitute items as part of the response modification
  • The Supplementary line is set for awarded lines that the bidder added (additional line items) during the bidding event.
