Posting Documents with a Future Date (New)

Use

As of SAP Supplier Relationship Management 7.0 (SAP SRM 7.0), Procurement for Public Sector (PPS), you can specify that a document is to be released (posted) on a future date, rather than being released immediately to Funds Management (FM) in the back-end system. You can enter a future date as the FM posting date of a contract or purchase order. For shopping carts, the request date field is used.

When you enter a future date as the FM posting date for a document, the document can be parked so that it is not released to Funds Management immediately. Documents that have a future posting date and which are parked are then automatically or manually released to FM on the specified date using the future date report. Additionally, as part of this report, the system checks budget availability when the documents are being posted.

Effects on System Administration

Authorized users can run the future date posting report automatically by scheduling a batch job with an appropriate variant. Alternatively, authorized users can run the future date posting report manually by executing the /SAPPSSRM/FUTURE_DATE program in SAP SRM.

Effects on Customizing

The following Implementation Guide (IMG) activity is relevant:

  • Supplier Relationship Management → SRM Server → Procurement for Public Sector Functions → Application Settings → Future Date Posting → Activate Future Date Posting
In this IMG activity, you can activate the future date posting function for purchase orders, contracts, and shopping carts based on transaction type.
