Synopsis (New)

Use

As of SAP Supplier Relationship Management 7.0 (SAP SRM 7.0), Procurement for Public Sector (PPS), you can create synopses for business opportunities being offered.

A synopsis provides summary information, usually in text and data fields, about a business opportunity at a particular stage in its life cycle. It might present:

  • Advance notice of a future opportunity
  • Details of an RFx regarding the opportunity (or the RFx itself)
  • Notification of an RFx award, perhaps a contract or purchase order
  • Details of a change to an existing synopsis

In business configuration, you can specify the use of a synopsis schema (at purchasing organization level). This provides a set of formats suitable for the differing synopsis content at the different life cycle stages. You can choose either a predefined synopsis schema or define your own. You can also configure classification code schemas within the framework provided by classification systems such as the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) and the Common Procurement Vocabulary (CPV).

You can choose whether to create synopses automatically or manually. They are created in XML. You can then distribute them using SAP NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure (XI), e-mail, or file transfer protocol (FTP). You can also attach RFxs or other documents to synopses.

The SAP system is delivered with a predefined synopsis schema, Federal Business Opportunities (FBO), for the U.S. federal business opportunities publication system (FedBizOpps).

Notification and storage of synopsis status and transmission information is provided.
