New Correspondence Function in the Securities Area

Scope of Functions

The correspondence functions for the Securities order function have been brought into line with the existing functions in the Money market, Foreign exchange and Derivatives areas.
The function has changed significantly. If previously, you managed your correspondence manually, you now have the option of managing it automatically. To do this, you must make certain settings in Customizing:

It is now possible to:

  • Automatically generate correspondence either in the background or in periodic batch jobs when you save a transaction.
  • Automatically manage correspondence according to the product type, transaction type, activity category and last function (Customizing settings) and to manage correspondence according to the business partner for external correspondence types (correspondence standing instructions).
  • Output external correspondence types by fax or e-mail.
  • Output conditions and payment details (including multi-level payment methods).
  • Optically archive correspondence, provided there is a link to an external archive.
  • Display a correspondence overview (log) from the securities transaction.
  • Manage a confirmation status in the security transaction: maintain the counterconfirmation using the correspondence monitor.

Effects on Customizing

You must make new Customizing settings to match those in the Money market, Foreign exchange and Derivatives areas. It is not possible to convert to the new function automatically, since as of Release 4.6A, the Customizing settings in IMG activity 'Define Correspondence Activities' control how the confirmation process is affected.

Managing correspondence for all business partners

Maintain the following Customizing nodes for Transaction Management:

  • Define Correspondence Types
  • Define Correspondence Activities
  • Define Printer Options (optional)
  • Define Fax Options (optional)

Managing correspondence for one business partner

Maintain the standing instructions for correspondence in the master data for external correspondence types. Unless you enter a different address ID, the default address of the business partner is used for generating correspondence.

After the upgrade, you cannot continue to use SAPscript form F_TR_SEC_CONFIRM or customer-specific forms that are based on it. Forms F_TR_CONFIRM_ALL and F_TR_DEALER_ALL provide the basis for the enhanced correspondence function. As of Release 4.6A, these forms include elements relating specifically to securities. See the documentation on forms (Release 4.6 or beyond!) for F_TR_CONFIRM_ALL.
