SAP Business Workflow: New Functions for Release 3.0C

Description

Switch to Next Work Item with Immediate Dialog

Switching to the next work item with an immediate dialog is supported by default if the current user of a work item also belongs to the recipients of the next work item in the workflow that is running.

In this way a user can process a whole "series" of work items without having to return to the integrated inbox, refresh it, and select the next work item.

Workflow Definition Versions

Multiple versions of a workflow definition can be managed in a validity period for a multple-step task (workflow task/workflow template). One version of a workflow definition is the active version. All multiple-step tasks that have started refer to the version of the workflow definition that was active when they were started.

When saving an edited version of a workflow definition you have the choice of either "drawing" a new version or overwriting (repairing) the existing version.

It is possible to access underlying versions.#

Improved Step Log

The display of information in the step log depends greatly on the needs of the user and hides a lot of technical information.

Object Links

All work items for a specified object (= instance of an object type) are displayed in the order in which they were created. It cannot be assumed that the work items belong to a workflow.

Sending Texts to External Addressees

It was previously possible to send pre-prepared texts as notifications as SAPoffice documents for when a work item was completed.

Now, pre-prepared texts can also be sent from a workflow in separate background steps, independent of any application functions. The preprepared text can contain variables that will be filled at runtime.

The receiver(s) of the text can be determined dynamically from the context of the processed objects. This means that both SAPoffice users, internal recipients, and external recipients are able to be addressed using the internet, fax, X.400, ....

Starting Tasks in Dialog:
Evaluating the Organizational Assignment of Multi-Step Tasks

In addition to the requirement to assign single-step tasks to their possible processors, multi-step tasks now also have to be assigned to their possible processors (in the form of jobs, positions, or organizational units) or they have to be classified as general tasks.

For a single-step task this assignment determines the organizational responsibility for being permitted to execute work items for a single-step task.

The organizational responsibility is also determined from this assignment for being permitted to start tasks (single-step and also multiple-step tasks) in dialog (transaction SWUS).

Customer-Specific Definition of Triggering Events for Standard Tasks

The standard tasks delivered by SAP can be extended by customers so that triggering and completed events can be added.

Extended Deadline Monitoring of Workflows and Work Items

  1. Deadlines for time-related monitoring of the execution of workflows can be specified in the basic data of the workflow definition.
  2. An expression can also be specified using an element of the workflow container as a point of referenc for deadline monitoring of workflows and work items.
It is now possible to select the reference point depending on the runtime from the context of the object edited in the workflow.
