External interfaces (SAP Forms, WAPI 2)
Description
Integration between SAP Business Workflow and form applications
Certain SAP Business Workflow functions can be executed by a user via forms:
- A task can be started by executing a form and supplied with the data entered in the form.
- A work item can be executed as a form. The data from the work item container are available for displaying and processing from the form.
Forms are PC applications for data processing and data entry. The forms with the corresponding form application (e.g. Visual Basic) and the SAPForms toolkit must be installed locally on PCs for all users. You can find SAPForms on the SAP R/3 Upgrade & Presentation CD from Release 3.1G onwards.
Each user with a connection to an Internet mail system is able to use this functionality because data entered or processed in the form can be transferred between the mail system and the R/3 system via Internet mail.
Implementing the WAPI 2 interface
Version 2 of the Workflow Management Coalition interface ("WAPI 2") has been implemented with C-functions. The interface also includes two other functions for creating events and for simplifying the process for starting Workflows which are also released for use as ABAP/4 function modules.
More information about implementing the WAPI 2 interface can be found on the SAP R/3 Upgrade & Presentation CD.
