SAP xRPM 4.5 Metrics Management: New
Use
As of SAP xApp Resource and Portfolio Management (SAP xRPM) 4.5, you can only add customer-specific key figures (metrics) in the portfolio item and initiative by making settings in Customizing for Metrics Management. You can define various metrics value types for the key figures, such as ROI Planned and ROI Actual and specify whether the values are entered manually or are calculated automatically: You can model the logic for the calculation on a customer-specific basis.
Metrics are defined for each object type and can be analyzed in BI reports.

You implement SAP NetWeaver 04s with SP13. The SAP Notes 1072051 and 1049192 must be implemented afterwards.
Effects on Customizing
To be able to use Metrics Management, you have to make the following settings in Customizing for SAP xApp Resource and Portfolio Management (SAP xRPM), by choosing Metrics Management:
- Define Object Types
- Define Metrics Groups
- Define Currencies
- Define Quantities
- Define Metrics
- Define Metrics Value Types
- Assign Metrics Value Type to Metrics
- Define Metrics-Independent Groups
If you want to use calculated metrics automatically, you have to make the following additional settings in Customizing for SAP xApp Resource and Portfolio Management (SAP xRPM), by choosing Key Figure Monitor:
- Define Object Types
- Define Key Figures
- Define Threshold Values for Objects
- The following setting under Metrics Management is also necessary:
- Assign Key Figure to Metrics and Metrics Value Types
