Channel Management: Notifications (New)

Use

The information flow between brand owner and sales and service partners is of crucial importance in indirect sales. Especially when your partners are not so familiar with the partner portal, you need to ensure that they are informed of new leads and opportunities.

Until now, the system has only supported certain information flows, such as the workflow for opportunities or the distribution of leads, alerts in the case of a lost opportunity and notifications in knowledge management, for example, for subscriptions of content management objects.

With SAP CRM 5.0, you can link notifications with all business transactions in channel management, not only when the business transactions are created, but also when the status changes. The system sends the notification directly to the personal e-mail inbox or fax machine of the recipient. Notifications contain, for example, information on leads or opportunities the partner needs to process, or information on the status of the partner's registration and qualification requests. In this way, the brand owner receives a notification when a partner creates new business objects or returns a lead, for example.

Depending on the object and situation, the system triggers the notification using the following techniques:

  • Actions
This technique is suitable for all objects that can be linked with actions, for example, all objects within the One Order concept such as activities and tasks, leads, opportunities, and sales orders.
Notifications for individual objects are possible.
You can send notifications that are triggered by actions by e-mail and fax.
  • Workflow and extended notifications
Notifications for individual objects and collective notifications for several objects are possible.
You can send notifications that are triggered by workflow by e-mail.

To be able to use notifications in channel management, you must make the appropriate settings in Customizing of Customer Relationship Management under Channel Management-> Basic Settings-> Notifications.
