In this IMG activity, you define rate types, translation rations, and yield curves for calculating forward exchange rates.

In this activity, you define exchange rate types. These enable you to enter exchange rates for different purposes on the same date in the system. For example, you could define exchange rate types for middle rates, for bid, middle and ask rates, or for middle rates with rate spreads.
  • Currency translation ratios
In this activity, you enter the translation ratio for each combination of exchange rate and currency pair. You can also specify whether an alternative exchange rate type should be used for a given currency pair.
In this activity, you define yield curve types for calculating forward exchange rates. A yield curve type contains yield curve structures for various currencies.

You have defined at least one market data area in the IMG activity Create Market Data Area.

  1. Select the market data area for which you wish to create reference interest rates and yield curve types.
  2. If you have already created exchange rate types, the system will display a list of these. Select the exchange rate type in question, and choose Goto -> Details to go to the detailed screen of that exchange rate type. If you want to create a new exchange rate type, choose New Entries. The detailed screen appears automatically.
  3. Enter an ID and long text for the exchange rate type. Now enter the following data for this exchange rate type:

  1. Select an exchange rate type, and switch to the Translation Ratios view by selecting the Translation Ratios folder icon in the dialog structure on the left.
  2. If you have already created translation ratios, the system will display a list of these. If you want to define translation ratios, choose New Entries. Define the translation ratios for the exchange rate type you selected:
    1. From Currency
    2. To Currency
    3. Date as of which the entry us valid (format YYYYMMDD)
    4. From Ratio
    5. To Ratio
    6. Alternative Exchange Rate Type
  3. Select an exchange rate type, and switch to the Yield Curves for Forward Exchange Rates view by selecting the folder icon of the same name in the dialog structure on the left.
  4. If you have already created yield curves for forward exchange rates, the system will display a list of these. If you want to define more yield curves, choose New Entries. Define the yield curves for the exchange rate type you selected:
    1. Bid/Middle/Ask indicator
    2. Yield Curve Type for Forward Exchange Rates
  5. Save your entries.
