In this Customizing activity, you configure the navigation target details for intent-based navigation (IBN) or object-based navigation (OBN).

You assign the object category to a business object, a method, and one or two parameters. The application is then called according to the IBN settings or to the related OBN settings in the PFCG role a user is assigned to.

If necessary, you can distinguish navigation targets for different object fields.

For OBN, the following applies: You have created additional RFC connections for HTTP connection under Create RFC Connections: For each ABAP Connection (type 3), an HTTP Connection to ABAP System (type H) needs to exist, enhanced with _HTTP. For example, ABAP connection XYZCLNT001 needs an HTTP equivalent XYZCLNT001_HTTP.

In the standard system, the settings for the navigation targets are delivered for most of the delivered object categories.

Management of Change uses IBN to navigate between SAP Fiori apps.

Usually, you don't need to change the settings for the delivered object categories.

In case you have created your own object category, you need to add the navigation target settings in this Customizing activity:

• If you use OBN, you also have to add the navigation target settings in transaction PFCG in order to be able to navigate from the new object category.

• If you use IBN, you have to add a semantic object und and a semantic action for the object category in this Customizing activity. If necessary, you can add the relevant action parameter.

If you need to define different navigation targets for different object fields, you can add a second entry for an existing object category, and then enter a value for at least one object category entry in the column Field Name. The system tries to call the navigation target with the more specific statement (that means Field Name is filled). If nothing is found, the more general entry for the object category is called.
