In this Customizing activity you define from which valuation the impairment category is to be used to determine whether unwinding must be calculated in the current valuation. You define the impairment categories in which unwinding is calculated under Define Unwinding Calculation.

Depending on the RBD area and valuation method, define whether the impairment category of the current or old valuation is to be used to determine whether unwinding must be calculated.

Comment regarding the reset procedure: If the reset procedure is active and a contract is assigned to an unwinding-relevant impairment category for the first time within a valuation that has been reset, the system saves the date of this assignment, even though the valuation will be reset. Unwinding will be calculated as of this saved date in future. If a contract is assigned to an impairment category that is not relevant for unwinding, the date is deleted. If you choose the setting "Impairment Category of Current Valuation", unwinding is calculated from the saved date to the date of the current valuation within a valuation that has been reset, if the current impairment category is relevant for unwinding. The setting "Impairment Category of Old Valuation" causes unwinding to be calculated for every valuation key date, provided that the contract was assigned to an impairment category relevant for unwinding in the last valuation that was not reset. If the contract was assigned to an impairment category that was not relevant for unwinding in the last valuation that was not reset, no unwinding is calculated within the reset valuations if this setting is made.

Example 1: The impairment category of the old valuation is to be used for RBD area 0001 and the valuation method 20 to determine whether unwinding is to be calculated in the current valuation.

Example 2: The impairment category of the current valuation is to be used for RBD area 0002 and the valuation method 20 to determine whether unwinding is to be calculated in the current valuation.
