In this IMG activity you can define hierarchy structures.

The following hierarchy types are relevant for F&R:

  • Hierachy
  • Extended hierarchy

The hierarchy type "hierarchy" allows you to define trees without overlapping (merchandise categories, for example, where one product is assigned to exactly one node of the tree).

Example:

o

/ \

x y

/ \ / \

P1 P2 P3 P4

The hierarchy type "Extended hierarchy" allows you to define trees with overlapping (location hierarchies, for example, where a location can be assigned to more than one node of the tree).

Example:

o

/ \

x y

/ \ / \

L1 L2 L2 L3

A hierarchy type includes an attribute the "node type," which indicates whether a location, product or location product will be the node object. Database tables can be named for the various hierarchies you want to use.

The level definition allows you to define the number of different levels within the tree and their names when displayed in the application; for example, "101, 102, 103" or "001, 002, 003."
