In this Customizing activity you define the RBD flow types and the account assignments to be used for their update as actual records in the connected posting system (Financial Accounting). It involves two steps.

  • Step 1: Define RBD Flow Types
Field Characteristic Value
RBD Flow Type Enter a four character value for identifying the RBD flow type (example '0100')
Description The text that you enter here for the RBD flow type is used in the RBD account for identifying the posting.
Document header text The text entered here is used in the document header of the RBD posting
Automatic posting You define whether a flow type can be posted using an update report. Note: You can either set the indicator for automatic posting or the indicator for the manual flow type.
Manual RBD flow type You define whether manual planned records can be created with a flow type. Note: You can either set the indicator for automatic posting or the indicator for the manual flow type.
Debit/credit indicator You define whether the flow type is a debot or credit
Flow category You group the RBD flow type in the flow categorization Appropriation, Write-Off, Usage, Reset, Direct Write-Off, Reclassification and Unwinding.
Flow Type Group You use the flow type group to categorize the RBD flow types as Interest, Charges, Capital, Vlaue Adjustment or Reserve.
Value Adjustment Procedure You define the value adjustment procedure for which the RBD flow type is to be used. Only one value adjustment procedure can be used per RBD flow type.
Offsetting Flow Type Current Fiscal Year You use this RBD flow type if you reset a posted flow of the defined RBD flow type (for example, '0200') in the same fiscal year.
Offsetting Flow Type Previous Year You use this RBD flow type if you reset or write-off a flow posted in a previous fiscal year of the defined RBD flow type (for example, '0120') in the current fiscal year.
Flow Type Fiscal Year Change You use this RBD flow type if a planned record formed in a previous fiscal year of the defined RBD flow type (for example, '0110') is to be posted in the current fiscal year.
Note Number for Flow Type For special business operations in the source system, the system should display a note in the RBD account dialog. You can store the note that is to be issued.
Assignment of Value Adjustment Position You define the association of individual RBD flow types to the corresponding balances in value adjustment processing (allocation, previous year and current year).

  • Step 2: Assign accounting accounts to RBD flow types
In the second step, you can only make definitions for the RBD flow types that were selected in the application in the first step.
You must define the relevant general ledger account determination for the corresponding RBD flow type. Account determination is dependent on the RBD area, RBD class, RBD flow type, transaction currency, and RBD evaluation method. In each case, you must define the document type used for the posting, the posting key, and the account number for the debit and credit posting.
The FI accounts must display the following characteristics:
  • Account group: General G/L account

  • Account Management in Company Code: Line Items Display

  • Control Document Entry in Company Code: Can only be posted to automatically

Note:
Cost center information cannot be entered for the FI accounts relevant for RBD.
Assignment of Value Adjustment Position

You need to have made the settings in the following Customizing activities:

In this Customizing activity, you can use wildcards in the 'Assign Accounting Accounts to RBD Flow Types' (step 2). Wildcard is the name given to a placeholder in the form of an asterisk and allows you to make generalized settings for specific table columns. This minimizes the number of entries that need to be made and provides a better overview. You can use wildcards for the RBD area, RBD class, RBD flow type, transaction currency, and evaluation method.

For example, if you use a wildcard (= '*') for the transaction currency, this means that the defined accounts (debit/credit) are used for the actual posting in all currencies, dependent on the RBD area, RBD class, flow type, and valuation method.

Note that the specific entries are processed first, followed by the general entries.

Assignment of Value Adjustment Position
  • Step 1: Define RBD Flow Types
For valuation method IVA, a RBD flow type (0100) is to be created for appropriation of capital in the current year. This flow type is to be posted automatically by batch processing (update runs). It should not be possible to create planned records manually. The use of this RBD flow type is to trigger credit posting. You must assign the following RBD flow types accordingly:
  • Offsetting Flow Type Current Fiscal Year: Reset Appropriation IVA Capital Current Year (0200).

  • Offsetting Flow Type Previous Year: Clearing: IVA Capital Previous Year (0120)

  • Flow Type Fiscal Year Change: Allocation IVA Capital Previous Year (0110)

For the purposes of clarity, the sample Customizing is shown vertically rather than horizontally:
Field Characteristic Value
RBD Flow Type 0100
Description Appropriation IVA Capital
Document header text Appropriation IVA Capital
Automatic posting X
Manual RBD flow type <blank / no entry>
Debit/credit indicator Credit
Flow category Appropriation
Flow Type Group Capital
Value Adjustment Procedure IVA
Offsetting Flow Type Current Fiscal Year 0200
Offsetting Flow Type Previous Year 0120
Flow Type Fiscal Year Change 0110
Note Number for Flow Type <blank / no entry>
Assignment of Value Adjustment Position Value Adjustment Position Current Year

  • Step 2: Assign accounting accounts to RBD flow types
For RBD area '0001', RBD class '00000001', and valuation method '01', the general ledger account assignment of the previously created RBD flow type '0100' is to be independent of the transaction currencies. To achieve this, you use the wildcard function. The debit posting is to be posted to FI account '111210 - Appropriation IVA Capital', the credit posting to FI account '111200 - Position IVA Capital'. You post the FI update using theflow type 'RB'.
For the purposes of clarity, the sample Customizing is shown vertically rather than horizontally:
Field Characteristic Value
RBD Area: 0001
RBD class 00000001
RBD Flow Type 0100
Transaction Currency *
Evaluation Method 01
Flow type RB
FI posting key debit posting 40
FI account number debit posting 111210
FI posting key credit posting 50
FI account number credit posting 111200
