SAP E-Book

If you use Adobe Document Services (ADS) to create the PDF document for the print version, maintain an additional web service destination.

  • ADS must be installed and configured
  • The AS ABAP on which the WebDynpro applications runs, must be connected to an AS Java with a print service:

  • The ADS user for secure communication with the AS Java in which the Adobe Document Services are installed, has been created.

Proceed as follows, depending on the AS Java release:

  • Up to SAP NetWeaver 7.00, 7.01 or 7.02 (including SPs):
See the section below: Set up Web service destination for the Adobe Document Services (in Visual Administrator)
  • From 7.2 (including SPs)
See the section below: Set up Web service destination for the Adobe Document Services (in SAP NetWeaver Administrator)

Set up Web service destination for the Adobe Document Services (in Visual Administrator)

To set-up the web service destination for communication with the Adobe Document Services:

  1. Open the Visual Administrator. Choose:
  • under Windows, the directory <drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\JC<INSTANCE>\j2ee\admin

  • under Unix the directory /usr/sap/<SID>/JC<INSTANCE>/j2ee/admin.

Double-click on the file go.bat.
  1. In the Visual Administrator logon screen, choose a connection, and choose Connect.
  2. Enter the password for the connection. You are now connected to the Visual Administrator.
  3. Go to the directory Server -> Services -> Web Services Security -> Web Service Clients -> sap.com -> tc~wd~pdfobject -> com.sap.tc.webdynpro.adsproxy.AdsProxy*ConfigPort_Document.
  4. To change the default URL http://localhost:50000/AdobeDocumentServices/Config?style=document, choose Custom in the drop-down box next to the text URL, for the destination URL.
  5. Replace the string localhost:50000 with the host name and port number <host name>:<port number> of the Adobe Document Services.
  6. Specify the user name and password. It must be a technical Adobe user which you created when configuring ADS.
  7. Save your entries.
  8. To pass the changed data to AS Java, go to Services → Deploy.
  9. Choose Application.
  10. Choose sap.com/tc~wd~pdfobject.
  11. To stop the application, choose Stop Application.
  12. Then, choose Start Application.

Set up Web service destination for the Adobe Document Services (in SAP NetWeaver Administrator)

To set up the web service destination for communication with the Adobe Document Services:

  1. Call the SAP NetWeaver Administrator with http://<server>:<port>/nwa.
<Server> is the AS Java in which the SAP NetWeaver Administrator is installed, and <port> is the HTTP port of AS Java.
  2. Choose SOA Management → Technical Configuration → Destination Template Management.
  3. Choose Create Destination.
  4. Choose Destination Type WSIL.
  5. Enter ConfigPort_Document as Destination Name.
    The name is case-sensitive.
  6. Enter URL http://<server>:<port>/inspection.wsil.
