SAP E-Book

You maintain the check mode and check instructions in this step.

  • Check mode
You maintain the check mode in the location-specific product master record because the system uses it if no check mode is provided by the calling application.
If the calling system is a SAP R/3 system, the requirements class is copied as the check mode from the SD applications. Check modes are not copied from any other applications.
The check mode, together the business event, determines the type and scope of the checks to be carried out. In addition, the check mode controls consumption using planning. You maintain the following fields in the details display:
  • Check mode

Enter a three-digit value.
  • Assignment mode

The assignment mode determines how customer requirements are consumed against the forecast. Only one consumption type is possible for each requirements strategy:
* No entry : No assignment
* 1: Assignment of customer requirements for planning with assembly
* 2: Assignment of customer requirements for planning without assembly
  • Check mode text

Enter a short text (40 characters).
  • Check instructions
In the check instructions, you determine the basic methods to be executed, and if the rules-based availability check should be used. The selection of methods depends on the check mode and the business event. You make the following settings in the details display:
  • Business event

Choose the business event.
  • Check step numbers

You determine the sequence of basic methods (ATP, product allocations and planning) by assigning check steps from 1 through 3. Methods assigned with check step 0 are not carried out.
  • Neutral result

If you have set the Neutral result indicator, the result of the corresponding basic method has no influence on the final results.
If the result of a neutral-results basic method is smaller than the final results, a message appears (or an alert, which you can process in the Alert Monitor).
If you have set all basic methods of a check as neutral result, the final result is always the complete requirements quantity.
  • Rules-based ATP

The Rules-based ATP field indicates whether a rules-based availability check may be executed for an order type. If you have set the indicator, a rules-based availability check is allowed.
  • Start immediately

The Start immediately indicator controls if the rule interpretation should be carried out before the availability check. If you set this indicator, and the result of the rule interpretation is a substitution, the original requirement is first substituted, and then checked.
If the result of the rule interpretation is a calculation rule (for example, a consumption horizon), the system checks the original requirement while taking into account the calculation rule.
  • New rule

The indicator controls whether the rule interpretation should be executed again for dependent requirements.
  • ATP active alert

If you have set this indicator, and have executed an availability check in which a shortage has occurred, you can display the shortage situation using the Alert Monitor from the Supply Chain Cockpit.

To create a check mode, proceed as follows:

  1. Choose New entries.
  2. Enter a three-digit value and a name for the check mode. If you want to determine an assignment mode, choose it by using the possible entries help (F4).
  3. Save your entries.

To determine a check rule, proceed as follows:

  1. Select a check mode.
  2. Choose Check instructions.
  3. Choose New entries.
  4. Enter the relevant data.
  5. Save your entries.
