You use this IMG activity to define settings for an external optimization that you intend to connect to the SAP APO system using the Optimization Extension Workbench.

Define:

  • A designated name for external optimization in the SAP APO system
  • The application components for which external optimization is to be available
  • A status for external optimization
  • Whether external optimization is to be called as an OCX in the SAP GUI or using an RFC connection in a GUI specified by optimization
You can do one of the following:
  • If you want optimization to be called as an OCX in the SAP GUI, specify an OCX key.

  • If you want to use an RFC connection, do not enter an OCX key, instead, specify the GUI function and associated RFC destination that is to be used for calling external optimization.

  • If the optimization frontend and optimization server are separated from one another and communicate through the SAP APO system, also specify the RFC destination and server function used for calling the server from the SAP APO system.

You can also make the following optional specifications:

  • You can enter optimization-specific parameters
For each external optimization, you can store data records here (field name and field value). This data is transferred when calling the GUI or server function in the OPT_PARAMETER_EXT parameter.
Data type and export length specifications have no significance for the SAP APO system; they assist external optimization in interpreting the transferred data.
  • APX configuration parameters
You can use this table for special developments.
  • List of all users for whom external optimization should be made available
If you want to use a list of users, you have to set the user list indicator.
