In this IMG activity, you define the settings for the slotting heuristic in a procedure profile. The slotting heuristic is used in make-to-order production scenarios in the short-term horizon to schedule a large order quantity of multi-variant products (with lot size 1). Even after a short runtime, it provides a relatively good result. The heuristic is recommended when dealing with problem situations concerning mainly hard restrictions.
You can define the following parameters in the procedure profile:
- The maximum time allowed for the optimization.
- How the system is to consider the customer requested date during the optimization. Using the weighting, you can set whether and how you want to tolerate "earliness" or "lateness" concerning the customer requested date.
- Which restrictions the system is to take into account. You can define the weighting for each restriction category up to which the system is to select the restrictions. Restrictions with lower weightings (priority) are then not taken into account by the system during optimization.
After you have defined the procedure profile, you can assign it in the IMG activity Define Procedure Packages
