SAP E-Book

In this IMG activity, you define a service profile for the "Phase-In/Phase Out Planning" planning service. The planning service carries out phase-in or phase-out planning and is called by the Planning Service Manager(PSM).

You have made the following settings in Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO):

  1. IMG activity "Define Product Group Type" under Master Data → Product → Product Groups: You have created a product group type PI for "Phase-In" or this already exists.
  2. IMG activity "Define Product Groups" under Master Data → Product → Product Groups: You have assigned the value PI to the phase-in group that you have defined in the "Define Phase-In Group" IMG activity.
  3. In the "Product" transaction under Master Data → Product in the SAP Easy Access Menu, you have made the following settings for the product:
    1. In the "Product Group" section, you have assigned a product group to the PI product group type.
    2. In the "New Product/Model" section, you have set the "New Product" indicator.
    3. In the "Start/End Date" section, you have specified a production start date.

In the Planning Service Manager in SCM Basis, you have defined a selection for the product. This product must fulfill the following requirements:

  1. It must be assigned to the same phase-in group.
  2. Its historical data must be longer than the length of the profile that you have defined in the "Define Phase-In Group" IMG activity.
  3. Its production start date must be in the past.

  1. Set up three different phase-in profiles. For every profile, you must have defined a selection in the PSM beforehand.
    1. "Generate Phase-In Profile" (for the product whose historical data you want to use as a basis for the phase-in profile)
    2. "Phase-In Forecast" (for new product)
    3. "Phase-In Forecast Based on BOD" (for new product)
If the product already has a BOD, 1. and 2. can be dealt with in one single service profile.
  1. For every service profile, select one of the following actions in the PSM:
  • Generate Phase-In Profile

  • Generate Phase-Out Profile

  • Phase-In Forecast

  • Phase-In Forecast Based on BOD

  • Plan Phase-Out

  • Adjust Phase-Out

  1. Set a period indicator (for example, month or year).
  2. Enter a time series ID for historical data.
  3. Enter a time series ID for forecast data.

In the PSM, you must then define a planning profile for phase-in. To do this, you enter a selection name, process profiles, the "Phase-In/Phase-Out" planning service (technical name: SPP_PHASE_IN_OUT) and the three service profiles. You then carry out a planning run, and the system creates a phase-in forecast on location product level.
