SAP E-Book

In this IMG activity, you define a number range for shipments that were created in TP/VS and transferred to SAP R/3. When shipments are published in interactive planning, a unique number is assigned. This number comes from the internal number range that you define in this IMG activity.

If you want to transfer planned shipments to R/3, you have to define two number ranges in R/3:

  • Internal Number Range: Number range for shipments that are created in R/3.
  • External Number Range: Number range for shipments that are created in APO. This must be identical to the internal number range in APO.

To define the number ranges in SAP R/3, choose the following path: R/3 IMG → Logistics Execution → Shipping → Deliveries → Define Number Ranges for Deliveries.

  1. To create a new interval choose Change Intervals.
  2. On the Maintain Number Range Intervals screen, choose the Add Intervals icon.
  3. Enter the required values:
No.: Enter a sequential number such as 01 or 02.
From number: Enter the start number of the number range interval; for example, 0000001000.
To number: Enter the end number of the number range interval; for example 0000009999.
Current number: This displays the last number that was assigned to an internal number range interval; for example, 1579.
Ext: Do not set this indicator (= 'internal'). You only need to set this indicator if you connect an external application to the planning system.
  1. Choose Add.

This internal number range must agree with the external number range that you create in SAP R/3.

The numbers of the number range interval are not allowed to overlap with other number range intervals in TP/VS. This means that each number can only be used once. In particular, they may not overlap with the range defined for temporary shipments (see the Define Number Ranges for Temporary Shipments IMG activity).

You can also create external number ranges. For example, this may be necessary if you create shipments in R/3 for deliveries in TP/VS and you want to transfer this to APO. In this case, the external number range in TP/VS has to agree with the internal number range in R/3.
