SAP E-Book

Specify the credentials that identify your company (or companies) on the Ariba Network. If your company uses end points for the technical communication with the Ariba Network, you also have to specify the end points.

End points enable document routing to various SAP S/4HANA systems, if required.

You can do the following:

  • Specify the ID identifying your company on Ariba Network and assign a password (Shared Secret) to the Ariba Network ID. The shared secret is transferred with each outbound cXML message and allows the message to access the Ariba Network.
  • If Business Application IDs are specified on your buyer account on the Ariba Network, specify this ID also in your SAP system to use it when communicating with Ariba Network.
  • Assign end points to Ariba Network IDs and define passwords on end-point level.
An Ariba Network ID can have multiple end points. An end point is a document routing placeholder that ensures documents from Ariba Network are sent to the required destinations. If you have enabled and defined end points for your buyer account on Ariba Network, you must assign them here and define passwords on end-point level.

The credentials can be specified as follows:

  • A shared secret for each Ariba Network ID
  • A shared secret for each end point

Proceed as follows:

  1. Choose New Entries.
  2. Enter the Ariba Network ID. It is displayed to suppliers on the Ariba Network. You can enter one or several IDs. For example, you can enter a separate ID for each company code. The Ariba Network ID is transferred with each outbound cXML message and identifies your company as the sender.
  3. Specify a shared secret password. Do this twice to confirm that the spelling is correct. If required, you can change the shared secret at a later point in time.
Note: If you want to use end points, skip this step now. You have to enter a shared secret for each end point later (see "Specify End Points and Credentials on End-Point Level" below).
  1. If you have a test account on the Ariba Network (which means that your ID is not published to suppliers on the Network), select Test Account. You can specify the credentials of your live account later.
  2. Specify whether you want to transfer the system ID of your SAP system to the Ariba Network to identify your system as the sender of the cXML messages. If you want to transfer the system ID, do the following:
    1. Select System ID Enabled and press ENTER.
    2. Under System ID, specify the Business Application ID as it is known to Ariba Network. If you leave this field empty and the system ID is enabled, then the logical system specified in the client settings is used.
  3. Specify whether you want to use end points and for which purposes. You have the following options:
  • End points not enabled

  • Enable end points for authentication

Use this option if you only want to transfer messages from the SAP system to the Ariba Network.
  • Enable end points for authentication and polling

Use this option if you want to transfer messages between the Ariba Network and the SAP system in both directions.
  1. Save your entries.
  2. To delete an existing entry, select it and choose Delete.
Specify End Points and Credentials on End-Point Level
  1. If you enable end points, select the line in which you entered the Ariba Network ID and double-click End Points for Ariba Networkin the Dialog Structurein the left-hand screen area.
  2. Choose New Entries.
  3. In the table End Points for Ariba Network, do the following:
    1. Enter an SAP-Internal Key.This key identifies the Ariba Network end point in your SAP system. Your entry must be unique and can be freely defined. It must not exceed 10 characters.
    2. Enter the ID that the end point has on the Ariba Network.
    3. Enter a shared secret for the end point. Do this twice to confirm that the spelling is correct.
The shared secret must be identical to the one you specify on the Ariba Network for this end point.
  1. Save your entries.
