In this Customizing activity, you can maintain the types of underlying objects that you want to use in the valuation of financial obligations, for example, asset retirement obligations (AROs).

In SAP Asset Retirement Obligation Management, you can use different types of underlying objects for the following:

  • To differentiate sets of master data for different underlying objects
  • To differentiate between the following:
  • Underlying objects for which you want to maintain links to fixed assets that represent the underlying assets

  • Underlying objects for which there is no need or possibility to maintain the links to fixed assets that represent the underlying assets

SAP delivers the following underlying object types:

  • 100
Underlying Object with Asset
  • 200
Underlying Object w/o Asset
  1. Enter the following:
  • A three-character Underlying Object Type

  • A two-digit Number

  • A Description

  1. To create a reference to fixed assets in SAP Fixed Asset Accounting, select Yes or Noin Fixed Asset.
  2. Saveyour underlying object type.

There are both retirement relevant antennae and retirement relevant air conditioners. You can decide to create only one underlying object type, which is used for both types of underlying objects, or you can decide to create two underlying object types with specific master data for each type. In the latter case, the underlying object type Antennaecould have a reference to fixed assets in SAP FI Fixed Asset Accounting while the underlying object type Air Conditionersdoes not.
