In this Customizing activity you make the basic settings for the release of a release object. Since the SAP Business Workflow regulates the release of release objects, you must specify if and when the system forwards a release object to the release process.

You have made the standard settings in Customizing for SAP Business Workflowin Customizing activityMaintain Standard Settings.

  1. Select an indicator in the Run Release Workflow group box.
  • If you choose Always, you must also select a release procedure for the release object.

  • If you choose Conditional, you can differentiate the release of the release objects according to release procedures and release reasons.

  1. Choose Display to check whether release reasons are already defined for the release object.
  2. Choose Executeto define or change a release reason for the selected release object and release procedure.

    You can select release attributes from the overview and assign a lower limit (in the case of intervals, an upper limit, too) and a comparison operator to every release attribute in the Dynamic Selectionsgroup box .

    Also note the connection between the release reason and the exact rule definition in the corresponding Customizing activity Assign Rule to Release Steps. You must ensure that the system finds a user group for each release object by means of the standard role/rule. This means that the rules are defined in such a way that they cover all release reasons.
  3. You assign the selection options by double-clicking on the input fields of the release attributes.
    To delete individualrelease reasons, you must individually delete all release attributes of this release reason. Note that the system deletes all release reasons if you choose Delete Entries for Release Object.
