SAP E-Book

In this step you configure product catalogs.

A number of media can be used as vehicles for presentations, including:

  • Print media
  • CD-ROM
  • Online services (such as internet, T-Online, CompuServe, AOL)
  • Information kiosks at the point of purchase

The Product Catalog functionality comprises a programming interface (Business API) for accessing the data and integrated maintenance of product catalog-related data. This data comprises:

  • The layout of the product catalog
  • The materials and prices in the product catalog
  • Texts
  • Multi-media objects (graphics, sound documents, video clips etc.).

A product catalog is put into its final format for the required medium outside the R/3 system.

The only exception to this is the internet product catalog which, used in conjunction with the SAP internet transaction server, allows product catalog data to be accesed via a web server.

Setting in the following areas are important for product catalogs:

  1. Document Management

So that documents can be assigned to layout areas and layout area items, these documents must be of the type that allows links to objects TWGLV and WLBM. For further information on this, please refer to the Control Data in the document management system.

The document type "L01" contained in the standard version is of the requisite type.

You can either use the document type "L01" or define one of your own that allows links to objects TWGLV and WLBM.

  1. Pricing

Product catalog prices are determined using pricing procedures (sometimes referred to as calculation schemas). The pricing procedure determined by the system depends on the following basic data:

  • Document schema
  • Customer pricing procedure of the reference customer and
  • Sales area

In the step Define and assign pricing procedures you must have entered the required pricing procedure for these values in the "Define pricing procedure determination" activity.
The amount termed sub-total "1" in the pricing procedure is used as the price.

The standard version contains document schema "X" and pricing procedure "WMP001".
The following entry is delivered as standard for pricing procedure
determination:
SORd DChn SP BeSm KuSm Pricing procedure Condition type
0001 01 01 X 1 WMP001 -

You can use the standard entry and, if required, copy the pricing procedure and change it for other sales areas.
You can also enter another pricing procedure. If you do this, you must ensure that it contains a sub-total "1".
