This section describes the procedure for defining settings for quality control using the QM component.

Take note of the connection to the step Archiving in the section Basic Settings and Environment -> Central Functions

Evaluations of the following transaction data form an integral part of quality control:

  • Original datasets, for example for inspection lots and Q-notifications
  • Compressed data in the QM information system.

Once the datasets have been archived, evaluations can only be performed from the archive. Special tasks, however, are required for this purpose and certain data accesses are no longer automatically possible. Important transaction data, therefore, is transferred to the QM Information System (part of the Logistics Information System LIS) in compressed form before it is archived.

You should

  • Define standard time periods for the evaluations and archiving
  • Archive transaction data immediately upon completion of all evaluations for the previous time interval and if no more accesses to original data are required
  1. Specify the time period for evaluations for the Logistics Information System (LIS).
Read the chapter Information System.
  1. Determine for how long the original transaction data must be kept:
  • For examinations based on the regular evaluations of the information system

  • For validations of the inspections and inspection results (for example, in form of certificates)

  • For examining Q-notifications

Refer to the chapter Archiving for further details.
  1. Organize the processes in your company in such a way that the datasets are reorganized upon completion of all of the evaluations.
  2. Organize the accesses to archived datasets.
