Create system groups and assign systems to them.

In this configuration activity, you can define system groups. In multi-system landscapes with dedicated leading and dependent systems, a system group determines which business partner master data belongs to a specific leading system. It also specifies the dependent systems that are called by the leading system, for example during an end of purpose (EoP) check.

  • You have defined systems for business partner master data blocking/ unblocking in configuration step Define Systems and have made the required technical settings in steps Make Technical System Settingsand Make SOA Settings.
  • Before you can maintain system groups and systems, you must define a central customizing system in Customizing activity Define Central Customizing System.

To create a new system group and define a leading system for it, follow bellow steps:

  1. On the dialog structure on the left-hand side, select the option Define System Groups.
  2. Choose Display -> Changeto create a new system group.
  3. Enter a Group IDand a Description in the relevant columns.
  4. In the Leading Systemcolumn, define a leading system for the system group by choosing a system from the dropdown list. The system description will be filled automatically depending on the settings made in customizing activity Define Systems.
  5. In the Connection Type to Leading System (Default) column, specify how the leading system is called by the dependent systems by default.

To then assign dependent systems to your newly created system group, do the following:

  1. Select a system group and double-click the folder Assign Dependent Systems to System Group.
  2. Choose Display -> Changeto create a new system group.
  3. In the Dependent Systemcolumn, assign a dependent system to the system group by choosing a system from the dropdown list. The system description will be filled automatically depending on the settings made in customizing activity Define Systems.
  4. In the Connection Type to Dependent System column, specify how the dependent system is called by the leading system.
  5. In the Leading System Type column, specify the type of leading system. By doing so, you can restrict the use of a specific system group when checking the EoP for business partner master data. For more information, refer to the field help (F1).
  6. In column SeqNo, you can specify the order in which the dependent systems are called by the leading system. It is possible to leave this field blank, the systems are then called in random order.
