In this IMG-activity you determine the selection of InfoProviders (attached to a MultiProvider) in which data records can be found. By determining a selection that only has InfoProviders containing relevant data records, you can improve the processing of the query defined for the MultiProvider to which the InfoProvider is attached. Query processing is improved because a request for data is not sent to InfoProviders that do not contain relevant records.

You have created and activated the InfoProviders in the Business Intelligence system (BI system).

A standard selection of InfoProviders is preconfigured for the MultiProviders 0SPL_MC31 and 0SPL_MC33.

If you need to add additional InfoProviders to the preconfigured MultiProviders or if you need to create new MultiProviders, define the following parameters:

  1. Source Provider
Enter the MultiProvider to which the InfoProviders are attached.
  1. Source Characteristic for Update Rules
Determine one or more characteristics of the InfoSource that the system uses to assign data to the right InfoProvider. You can use the start routine in the update rules of the affected InfoProviders to evaluate the values of this field. In this case, you have to include the RS_BCT_UPDATE_RULES_LOG_PART include in the start routine.
You only have to determine values for this field if you use these Customizing settings for uploading data.
  1. Source Variable
Determine the name of the variable that the system uses to determine the selection criterion.
For example, the source variable in the standard settings for MultiProvider 0SPL_MC34 is 0S_PRFIL. This source variable refers to the InfoObject 0SPL_DELAY, and is used to determine the selection criterion Delay Period.
  1. Target Variable
Determine the variable that you want to use for the field 0INFOPROV. This field is a standard field in each MultiProvider. (The only manual maintenance you need to do for this field is to drag it into the query.)
In the standard settings for the MultiProvider 0SPL_MC34, the target variable is the variable 0P_INFOP.
  1. Target InfoProvider
Determine the target InfoProvider that the system should select if the source variable contains the values you have determined for the fields Lower Boundary and (optionally) Upper Boundary.
  1. Lower Boundary
Determine the value of the source variable. If the source variable is defined by a range, determine the lower boundary of the range.
For example, if the selection criterion is Delay Period, the lower boundary is T0, or T1, or T2, and so on.
  1. Upper Boundary
If the source variable is defined by a range, determine the upper boundary of the range.
