SAP E-Book

The BAdI implementation COM_CATHIER_MNT_PCAT is called whenever any changes in the product category data are made. In the implementation, there is a check for active catalogs that use product category data, followed by the determination of all products belonging to the changed product category or hierarchy. If the products belong to any indexed catalogs, change pointers are written.

The change pointers are taken into account during the update indexing runs. Only product category description changes and hierarchy description changes are recognized.

Because the majority of product catalog users do not use any product category data on the index management server, the implementation is inactive in the standard configuration. The determination run of the change pointers can be very time-consuming.

Recommendation

It is therefore recommended that you do not activate the implementation COM_PCATHIER_MNT_PCAT (class CL_IM_COM_CATHIER_MNT_PCAT) if product category data is not used.

You can customize usage of product category data in the product catalog via the product catalog type settings under Customer Relationship Management -> Master Data -> Product Catalog -> Define Catalog Types . Ensure that the setting for product category data usage is set accordingly.

In the standard system, the BAdI implementation COM_CATHIER_MNT_PCAT is not activated. To be used, the implementation has to be activated.
