In this IMG activity, you define formulas for the Commodity Pricing Engine (CPE). A commodity pricing formula is used to price commodities that are contained in a product and that can be linked to condition types used in documents for the pricing of this product.

The formula is defined by a formula ID and a condition type. If no condition type is specified, the formula can be used for all condition types of type Q (commodity pricing). If a condition type is specified, the formula can be used only with this condition type.

A commodity pricing formula contains the following:

  • Description
  • Commodity unit of measure (UoM)
  • Formula rate pricing unit: Currency, price unit, and UoM
  • Term combination rule
  • Quantity splitting routine
  • Quantity conversion rule with the optional factors of commodity quantity and item quantity
  • Indicator for using only accuracy with the ERP system during the evaluation
  • One or multiple terms

You have defined the following:

  • Combination routines
  • Quantity split routines
  • Quantity conversion rules
  • Terms

The following SAP namespaces are valid for the following routines:

  • 0000000 - 0009999: General CPE routines from SAP
  • 0010000 - 0019999: Industry-specific routines from SAP
  • 0020000 - 0029999: Routines from SAP partners
  • 0030000 - 0099999: Customer-specific routines
  • 0100000 - 9999999: Not used yet

The following SAP namespaces are valid for the following rules:

  • 00000 - 0ZZZZ: General CPE rules from SAP
  • 10000 - 8ZZZZ: Industry-specific rules from SAP
  • 90000 - 9ZZZZ: Rules from SAP partners
  • A0000 - ZZZZZ: Customer-specific rules
  1. To include a detailed description for the formula, you can link additional documents.
  2. The terms of a formula are numbered and can be:
  • Assigned to a term group

  • Defined as provisional

  • Linked to a term used for provisional pricing

Note: The quantity of a commodity priced by a term can be defined by factors or by a fixed quantity.
  1. Define a specific conversion rule for all steps in a formula evaluation,in which a currency and a quantity conversion have to be performed.
This conversion rule can apply to the whole formula, or can be defined for a specific conversion place or specific currency and units. During the evaluation, the system looks for a conversion rule in the following order, taking the first one it finds:
  1. Read conversion for term with conversion place, units, and currencies
  2. Read conversion for term with conversion place, but without units or currencies
  3. Read conversion for term without conversion place (0000), but with units and currencies
  4. Read conversion for term without conversion place (0000), units, or currencies
  5. Read conversion for formula with conversion place, units, and currencies
  6. Read conversion for formula with conversion place, but without units or currencies
  7. Read conversion for formula without conversion place (0000), but with units and currencies
  8. Read conversion for formula without conversion place (0000), but with units or currencies
Note:
The first four rules can be performed only during term evaluation.
  1. You can define a certain rounding rule for all steps in a formula evaluation in which rounding can be done.
The rounding rule can apply to the whole formula, or can be defined for a specific conversion place. During the evaluation, the system looks for a rounding rule in the following order, taking the first one it finds:
  1. Read rounding for term with conversion place
  2. Read rounding for term without conversion place (0000)
  3. Read rounding for term group with conversion place
  4. Read rounding for term group without conversion place (0000)
  5. Read rounding for formula with conversion place
  6. Read rounding for formula without conversion place (0000)
Note:
The first four rules can be performed only during term evaluation.
Note: If no conversion or rounding rules are specified, the conversion uses the daily currency conversion with exchange rate type 'M', performs quantity conversion according to the material master data, and does not carry out rounding.
  1. You can restrict the use of a formula to certain sales areas. To do this, you must define these sales areas as valid areas. If no valid areas are defined, the the formula can be used in all sales areas.
