In this Customizing activity, you specify the languages permitted when maintaining language-dependent texts in SAP Portfolio and Project Management. During portfolio or project maintenance, these languages can be selected to switch between different language versions of an object independently of the logon language you have used. If you want to use language-independent Portfolio and Project Management, specify only one permitted language. This means that objects are always maintained and displayed in the same language. In Portfolio Management, the language field is hidden in this case.

You also need to select one of the permitted languages as the default language, that is, the language used in the following cases:

  • In Portfolio Management, when you create or open objects without an original language and the logon language is not permitted
  • In Project Management, as a default for the original language of new projects if the logon languge is not permitted

Note:

This Customizing activity does not affect the logon languages that you can use to access your system and display applications (menus, buttons, field labels etc.). It only restricts the usage of languages for language-dependent user entries in SAP Portfolio and Project Management.

In the Customizing activity Override Default Global Settings, you have enabled original language assignment in Portfolio Management using the general default value 0050 Master Language. Choose value X (= Enabled), or M (= Mandatory). Otherwise, the current Customizing activity is only applicable to Project Management, while texts in Portfolio Management are displayed and maintained in whatever logon language a user has chosen.

  1. Specify permitted text languages.
  2. Select a default language.
