SAP E-Book

In this IMG activity, you specify the ID - applying the naming convention and namespace - for new data target adapters. A data target adapter brings together a class of data targets (such as characteristics of a marketing profile template) that can be filled with data from SAP BW. To create a complete data target adapter, you have to program some function modules appropriately for the ID entered here. During the data upload from SAP BW, the corresponding function modules are then identified by applying the naming convention. This is why it is imperative that they be found in the specified namespace.

In the IMG activity Release Data Target for Replication from SAP BW, you can release for the data target adapters concrete data targets that can be filled from SAP BW.

SAP delivers a number of data target adapters. You are not allowed to make changes to these delivered data target adapters. You may only create or change new objects with technical names beginning with Y or Z.

  1. Give the data target adapter a technical name beginning with Y or Z to ensure that it does not clash with any subsequent SAP deliveries.
  2. Specify the name space and the naming convention that are to be made valid for the function modules.
  3. Enter a description for the data target adapter.
  4. Specify whether the data targets for this adapter are allowed to be transported in the IMG activity Release Data Target for Replication from SAP BW.
  5. Program the function modules for your data target adapter in accordance with the ID you selected. For information about the individual function modules that are necessary, see the documentation on the function group CRMBW_ADAPTERS.
