In this Customizing activity, you specify that the system automatically copies the marketing data, such as IDs, descriptions, and WBS assignments, to the SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (SAP NetWeaver BW) component each time you save your entries. Updating online in the SAP NetWeaver BW component is important for planning and reporting.

After the data has been updated in the SAP NetWeaver BW component, the system automatically sets the Created in SAP NetWeaver BW or Current in BW indicators in marketing.

There are two types of information that are updated to the SAP NetWeaver BW component:

  • Master data information
  • Hierarchy information

Note: You can only update one system and one client in the SAP NetWeaver BW component.

  • You set the first indicator Activeif you want to update and activate information in the BW system from this client.
If this indicator is set and none of the others, both the hierarchy and master data are updated and activated. Planning at marketing project level is possible as well as planning for the whole hierarchy.
The next two indicators allow you to improve performance by excluding the hierarchy information from update or activation.
  • If you set the second indicator Disable Marketing Hierarchy Save in BW, the master data is active in the BW system but the hierarchy data is not updated or activated. Planning for the hierarchy is not possible. Reporting can take place if it is without hierarchy selection (for example, at marketing project level or selection via the campaign or trade promotion type) but reporting at hierarchy level is not possible.

To update the hierarchy manually, you can use the extractors for full hierarchy (0CRM_MKTELM_FULL_HIER) or partial hierarchy (0CRM_MKTELM_PART_HIER).
  • If you set the third indicator Disable Marketing Hierarchy Activation, the master data is active in the BW system. The hierarchy is updated but not activated. This means that planning is possible because the hierarchy is automatically activated when planning is started from CRM.

  • If you set the fourth indicator Multiple BW Hierarchies, you can determine that a BW hierarchy is to be created/updated for all marketing project top nodes. Unless you set this indicator, only one BW hierarchy is created/updated for all marketing projects. The name of that hierarchy is CRMMKTROOT.
If you want to have multiple hierarchies in the BW system while being able to do consolidated reports, you can update the hierarchy CRMMKTROOT using the extractors for full hierarchy (0CRM_MKTELM_FULL_HIER).
