CRMC_MKTPL_PHIER - Assign Product Hierarchies

Note: This is a shared IMG activity; the settings you make in this IMG activity apply to marketing projects, account plans, and incentive programs.

In this IMG activity you select the product hierarchies used to assign products to the following objects: campaigns, campaign elements, trade promotions, trade promotion elements, account plans, and incentive programs. You can select two product hierarchies.

Business users can assign products one at a time, or they can use product categories to assign several products at once. The product hierarchies that you select here determine the product categories that users can assign. For example, if you select TM_BRANDS as the hierarchy, all the product categories of TM_BRANDS are shown as possible entries.

You can also specify the minimum level of the product hierarchy for long and short term trade promotions. The minimum level indicates the level of the product hierarchy, relative to the root level. If the user chooses a product category that is higher in the hierarchy than this minimum level; the product category is exploded to the minimum level.

When you call up marketing projects, account plans, or incentive programs, you see that the field labels for the related columns are replaced with the description of the product hierarchies that have been assigned (for example, "Brands" is the description of hierarchy "TM_BRANDS", and so this is shown as the field label. Up to two hierarchies can be displayed, therefore there are two possible fields where the name of the product hierarchy dynamically replaces the previous field heading).

Example

You create a new product hierarchy called BRAND and assign product categories to this hierarchy. Once you have assigned 'BRAND' to hierarchy usage '01', business users can assign products by selecting one of the product categories under the brand hierarchy. They can thus assign all the products under the selected category at once.

To create product hierarchies, choose Master Data -> Product Hierarchy.
