SAP E-Book

In this Customizing activity, you can define descriptions for objects displayed in the Recent Items block. The Recent Itemsblock displays a list of objects that a user has most recently used as hyperlinks. By clicking on a link in the list, users can navigate to an object. Users can define whether this block is displayed in the navigation bar of their role and the number of links to be displayed. The list of recent items is persisted; therefore, all recent items are available at the next logon.

The description of a recent item is derived during runtime. The corresponding tooltip of a recent item consists of the UI object type (description) and the description separated by a colon (:).

  • To display the Recent Items block in the navigation bar, you need to define a direct link group of type Recent Items in Customizing for UI Framework under Technical Role Definition -> Define Navigation Bar Profile.
  • The recent items are technically implemented as a direct link group of link group type Recent Items# (technical key DD). You need to enable this direct link group for business roles, in Customizing for UI Framework under Business Roles -> Define Business Role.

In the standard system, descriptions for a large number of objects are maintained. In this Customizing actiivity, you can overwrite these descriptions or create descriptions for new object types.

If no entry is defined for an certain object or if an attribute path is invalid, the general object type description or the technical name of the object is displayed in the Recent Item block.

Create new recent item descriptions by overwriting existing entries or create recent item descriptions for new object types as follows:

  • Use the entry help (F4) for the External Object Name field to view all existing entries.
  • Define up to three attribute paths for each object type that are separated by a space in the description of the recent item.
  • Begin the path to the attribute of the business object layer (BOL) object with a double forward slash (//) followed by the attribute name.
  • If the attribute is not at root level, use a prefix for the relation name, separated by a single slash (/).
  • To use a fixed text, use a dollar sign ($).

Note

If the object type is left blank, the attribute path is valid for all objects with that external object name irrespective of the object type.
