Attribute lists are required for modeling segments or profiles during segmentation.

  • For classic segmentation, the following origin types are possible for data sources:
  • Attribute set

  • InfoSet

  • SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (BW) Cube

  • External List Management

  • For segmentation with high data volume (TREX), the following origin types are possible for data sources:
  • Attribute set

  • InfoSet

  • File import (CSV file)

Note that you can create up to 10 different data sources of this origin type.
  • For segmentation with high data volume (SAP HANA), the following origin types are possible for data sources:
  • Attribute set

  • InfoSet

  • SAP HANA database

Create a data source with Origin Type = HANA Table for a table you have created directly in the SAP HANA database or that you have replicated from another system. The input help provides you with a list of the tables that do not originate from SAP CRM (all tables with seg* are filtered out). Select a table and define the field for the business partner as usual.

Note for InfoSet: To be able to select using InfoSets, users require authorization for authorization object S_TABU_DIS, which has to be created as follows:
- ACTVT = 03
- DICBERCLS = SA

  • For segmentation with high data volume (BWA), the following origin types are possible for data sources:
  • Attribute set

  • BW InfoProvider

For more information about creating data sources and attribute lists, see SAP Library for Customer Relationship Management on SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/crm under Application Help -> SAP Customer Relationship Management -> Marketing-> Objects and Functions for Business Scenarios in Marketing -> Segmentation and List Management -> Segmentation-> Attribute List-> Editing Data Sources and Attribute Lists.

  1. Create data sources
  2. Create attribute lists
  3. Assign data sources to attribute list
To select multiple data sources, press and hold down the Shift or Ctrl key on your keyboard when selecting with the mouse. You can add as many data sources to an attribute list as you require. Open each data source and select the attributes that you want to include in the list. To select all attributes for a given data source, place your cursor on the data source and choose Select All Attributes from the context menu.
  1. Activate attributes
  2. Define filter values for attributes
  3. Activate TREX index for filter (optional)
If you have installed SAP NetWeaver Search and Classification (TREX), you can use it to speed up segment modeling. If you upload your business partner data along with the corresponding attributes to TREX regularly, this makes data retrieval during segmentation much quicker and more efficient.
This step is not relevant for attribute lists with usage category High Volume Segmentation. In this case, the TREX Index option is selected automatically.
  1. Assign pictograms to filters
This step is not relevant for attribute lists with usage category High Volume Segmentation.
  1. Distribute filters
You can distribute filters to users who already have personalized filters for this attribute. The filter is then included as a new personalized filter for the user. For more information, see SAP Note 1749651.
  1. Change attribute properties
