In this activity, you define the number range intervals for settlement documents. You can create new number range intervals here, or change existing ones.

When a settlement document is created, it is assigned a unique number. This number identifies the settlement document unambiguously. The SAP system automatically assigns a sequential number taken from the predefined number range interval as defined in Customizing.

Number range intervals are not included in automatic recording of Customizing changes. The transport of all changes made within number range interval maintenance must be triggered manually. To do so, choose Interval → Transport on the Display Number Range Intervals screen. Be aware that when you transport a number range object, any existing intervals of the object in question in the target system are deleted. This means that after the transport, the target system only contains those intervals that you have just transported. Number range intervals are imported as they were at the time of the export. Dependent tables are not transported or adjusted accordingly.

To define a number range, you have to insert a new number range interval. To do so, proceed as follows:

  1. First enter an application. You can use the input help to do so.
  2. Choose Interval.
  3. To define your own number range, choose Insert Interval. The Insert Intervaldialog box appears.
  4. Enter an alphanumberic ID (maximum 2 characters) for the interval.
  5. Specify the lower and upper limits of the number range interval. Keep in mind that each number can occur only once.
  6. Choose Insert.
  7. Save your entries.

Note: The last number assigned in the number range interval is displayed in the Current Number field.
