In this IMG activity, you maintain consumption types. Consumption types are business classifications of consumption values and demand.

Consumption types classify consumption values (and demand) according to business view points. The classification is based mainly on the way that the consumption values are billed. It is however more general than the rate used to bill consumption.

The consumption type is mostly used in connection with the integration of IS-U and CRM. It allows you to access consumption data from the IS-U system if, for example, you are calculating quotations for existing customers without load profiles. First, however, you must meet the following prerequisites:

  • Maintain the table of consumption types
  • Add rate steps to your rates using variant program QUANTI22 or QUANTI23.Additional consumption information is then included in the billing documents. For input operands belonging to category QUANT, you maintain a corresponding consumption type for these rate steps. If necessary, youmust also add steps to your demand rates using variant program DEMAND22 oder DEMAND23. You must then maintain the consumption type for input operands belonging to the category DEMAND.

If you use the IS-U and CRM integration, you can calculate quotations for customers in CRM. This process requires estimated consumption values for the quotation period. For existing customers, the estimated values can be based on the existing meter reading results available in IS-U. There is a function in CRM that allows you to estimate the consumption values in IS-U for the quotation period. This function carries out the following steps:

  • It executes a billing simulation for the corresponding installation
  • It takes the consumption information from the simulated billing document
  • It provides the CRM system with the consumption values for each consumption type

This estimated data is managed as profiles in CRM. A separate quotation profile is created for each consumption type. You can use this quotationprofiles for the subsequent calculation.

You can use the following values:

  • On-peak consumption
  • Off-peak consumption
  • Active power
  • Reactive power
