You can use availability control (AVC) to ensure that the consumed amounts in claims and funds management do not reach a given percentage of the consumable budget or a given absolute delta value of the consumable budget.

You use this IMG activity to define the availability control (AVC) check rules. You define the rule name, description, and the consumable and consumed key figures for each rule to indicate which value categories are used in the AVC calculation.

You assign AVC check rules defined here to AVC profiles in the IMG activity Define Availability Control (AVC) Profiles.

You must complete the IMG activities Define Availability Control (AVC) Check Rules and Define Availability Control (AVC) Tolerance Profiles before you can complete the IMG activity Define Availability Control (AVC) Profiles.

You must complete these AVC customizing activities to use AVC with claims and funds management.

1. You define an AVC check rule named BUDGET.
2. In Consumable Key Figures, you select Budget and Expired as value categories, and indicate that expired is Excluded. Any expired budget is excluded from the budget to calculate how much of the budget remains to be consumed.
3. In Consumed Key Figures, you select Prereserved and Reserved as the value categories that indicate when budget is consumed.
4. In the IMG activity Define Availability Control (AVC) Tolerance Profiles, you define a tolerance profile.
5. In the IMG activity Define Availability Control (AVC) Profiles you assign the check rule and tolerance profile that you have created to an AVC profile.
