The FIMA calculation procedure is the central unit in FIMA Customizing. It controls the sequence of calculations over several financing views as well as the type of alternative calculation (for example, the calculation of installments or interest rates).

In this Customizing activity, you define calculation procedures in the following steps:

  • Define FIMA Calculation Procedure
In this step, you can define as many calculation procedures as you want. You can assign the required calculation procedures for the current pricing process in the product master.
  • Define Calculation Sequence
In this step, you configure the calculation procedure. You use this step mainly to define filter values for the Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) required. In the case of a complex calculation procedure, you can define more than one step in order to map an iterative scenario over several views.

    Example 1:
In an iterative scenario, a result is calculated in a financing view, which means that the next view is based on the first view. In the second view you define a business condition: For example, you want to calculate a specific financial mathematics result, such as an effective interest rate of 10%. The result of the calculation may be different from the condition (for example, the result is 11%). Based on this difference, you must adjust a calculation parameter (such as nominal interest rate) in the financing view. For this reason, the first view is called Calculation and the second Condition.

    Example 2:
In the first view (lessee view), the system calculates a cash flow. In the second view (effective interest rate view), the system uses this cash flow to calculate the effective interest rate.
  • Define Calculation Results Update
In this step, you make the settings for saving the results for each financing view. You use this step mainly to define filter values for the Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) required.
