In this Customizing activity, you define legal references for incidents and activities that require legal justification, such as a house search.

When creating a legal reference, you also specify the group to which it belongs. For example, you could have categories for murder, burglary, fraud, and arson.

No legal references are delivered with the system.

  1. Choose Legal Reference Groups.
  2. Select New Entries.
  3. Enter an ID and description for the group in the Legal Group ID and Group Description fields respectively.
  4. Choose Legal References.
  5. Select New Entries.
  6. Enter an ID for the legal reference in the Legal Ref ID field.
  7. Enter the legal reference (such as the law name, article, subsection, number), its description, and the legal reference group to which it belongs.
  8. Select the Active checkbox to indicate that the legal reference is currently in effect. If the legal reference becomes obsolete, you can deselect the checkbox to prevent the reference from being returned in searches. For example, an activity was conducted six years ago using law 1.2.3. In the meantime, law 1.2.3 has been revoked. If you deselect the Activecheckbox for that reference, the operation from six years ago can still refer to it, but new activities will not be able to reference it.
