In this Customizing activity, you define global settings for the tier groups, tiers, and points in your loyalty program.

Tier Profile

You define a tier profile that contains the tier groups and tiers that are used in your loyalty program.

You can define multiple tier groups, and in each tier group, you can define multiple tiers. You use multiple tier groups to make it possible for members to move up or down the tiers in one tier group, independent of the tiers in the other tier groups. Members can have only one active tier in each tier group at any time. For example, you have one tier group with tiers that expire at the end of each year, and another tier group with tiers that never expire, to track the lifetime value of the member.

In each tier group, you define an entry-level tier, and a subsequent sequence for the tiers. This sequence defines which tier a member moves into when they move up or down the tiers in a tier group.

You also define whether your tier group is public or private. The system does not display private tier groups to members. You use this function to, for example, determine your most valuable members, or if you do not want to publicize the benefits of a particular tier group.

For each tier, you assign a date calculation procedure to use as an expiration procedure. This determines the period between a member entering a tier and the expiry of being in that tier.

You can also classify tier groups as Basic and Lifetime. The following points are to be taken in to consideration before creating classifications of a tier group:

  • There can only be one basic tier group and one lifetime tier group for aprogram type.
  • It is not mandatory to select a basic tier group or a lifetime tier group.
  • The basic tier group for each program is only meant for BI reporting purpose.

Define Tiers

For every tier maintained in the customizing, the user can also maintain tier dependent card types. Whenever a new tier becomes active, a card corresponding to the associated card type is created. This has implications during tier change.

When a tier change happens:

  • The card associated to the current card type expires.
  • A new card is created for the card type associated to the new tier.
  • If the 'retain old card no' flag is checked for the new tier, then the new card would retain the same external number as the old card.
  • If the 'Is old card valid' flag is checked for the new tier, then the old card would be retained active until the new card is used for the first time, if not set, then the old card would be immediately expired upon tier change.

Point Profile

You define a point profile that contains the types of loyalty point that members of the loyalty program can earn.

You can define multiple point types. For each point type you assign a date calculation procedure to use as an expiration procedure. This determines the period between a member earning a redeemable loyalty point and the expiry of that loyalty point.

You assign a conversion factor to each point type. The system uses the conversion factor to convert loyalty points of each point type into a base value that is used during the combinability evaluation for the reward rules.

Point Expiration Profile

You can override the expiration procedure for a particular combination of tier and point type. You do this if, for example, you want members who have reached a particular tier level to enjoy a longer period before their loyalty points of a particular type expire.

Basic Card Types

The user can define the basic card types associated to a program type and set one of them as default. Among these card types, a basic card is created for the card type marked as default, during membership creation.

One card type among these card types can be marked as anonymous. A card is created for the card type marked as anonymous during anonymous membership creation.

You have defined loyalty types in the Customizing activity Define Loyalty Types. The loyalty types that you define with the category Loyalty Program are automatically available in this Customizing activity.

You have defined date calculation procedures in the Customizing activity Define Date Calculation Procedures.

Note that you must use unique IDs for your tiers, tier groups, and point types in your system. The system uses the IDs to identify the tiers, tier groups, and point types in rules.

You define whether points are qualifying or redeemable in Customizing for Loyalty Management - Execution under Point Accounts -> Define Point Qualification Types.

To define basic a card type, select the program type and double click Define Basic Card Types.
