In this Customizing activity, you can maintain the causal factor types that are associated with a causal factor profile, and select the causal factor fields to be displayed for each causal factor type.

In the market development funds (MDF) scenario, you can select the Mandatory checkbox for a causal factor field. The system requires that you enter a value in the causal factor field for all documents (initiatives, initiative templates, and claims) that use the associated causal factor type.

If you select the Inactive checkbox for a causal factor field, then the system does not use this field for any causal factor type or any document created afterwards. Note that if a causal factor field is inactive, then the mandatory status of the field is irrelevant.

To view only active causal factor fields, choose the Filter Active pushbutton. To view both active and inactive causal factor fields, choose the Show All pushbutton.

Two casual factor profiles are delivered: one for the trade promotions management (TPM) scenario and one for the market development funds (MDF) scenario. You can change these profiles as needed or add a new profile.

The following pre-defined causal factor types are delivered by default:

  • Feature Ad
  • Display
  • Logo
  • Media
  • Retail
  • Slotting
  • Space
  • Travel
  1. Choose the causal factor type.
  2. Choose the causal factor field.
  3. Add or remove the fields to be displayed for this causal factor type. To add new fields, choose the New Entries pushbutton.
  4. To set a default value, enter the key value (numerical ID) for an attribute you have entered in the Customizing activity Maintain Attributes and Key Values for Causal Factor Fields. Note that default values cannot be defined for causal factor fields which you have customized to accept free text entry.
  5. Choose the causal factor profile.
  6. Choose the causal factor type.
  7. Add or remove the causal factor types to be associated with this profile. To add new fields, choose the New Entries pushbutton.
  8. Save your entries.
