SAP E-Book

You use this IMG activity to define the role-dependent CRM objects available in the central search, as well as possible associated attributes that you can use to restrict the search further.

For each role, you specify the following:

  • Which CRM objects are available for the search
  • Which attributes are available for each business object in the search if you want to enhance or restrict the automatic standard selection or if this does not exist (for example, for BSP applications that do not use the People-Centric UI)
  • You have created the role for which you want to create search criteria
  • You have defined the CRM object types and methods that you want to use, or you use the default settings

In the standard system, default settings for the central search are already defined for all backend roles with the technical name SAP_PCC*.

Creating a Search Criterion for Searching for Data in BSP Applications in the People-Centric UI

  1. Double-click on Object Type Entries.
  2. Choose New Entries.
  3. Select the role you want.
  4. Select the CRM object type and the CRM method.
These correspond to the CRM object type and -method for object link navigation to the corresponding application.
  1. In the Description field, enter a self-descriptive name.
This text is then used for later selection of the CRM objects in the dropdown box.
  1. Leave the Attribute Group field empty.
  2. Save your entries.

Creating a Search Criterion to Search for Data in BSP Applications that Do not Use the People-Centric UI

This description also applies if you want to define the attributes for a search criterion yourself to use for searching for data in BSP applications that use the People-Centric UI.

  1. Double-click on Attribute Groups.
  2. Choose New Entries.
  3. In the Attribute Group field, enter a technical name.
  4. In the Description field, enter a self-descriptive name.
  5. Double-click on Attributes.
  6. Choose New Entries.
  7. In the Attribute Name field, enter an attribute name.
This name corresponds to the search criterion transferred during navigation to the target application via URL and that is processed by the target application.
  1. In the Description field, enter a description for the corresponding attribute.
This text is then used for later selection of attributes in the dropdown box.
  1. Create all attributes of an attribute group.
  2. As described above, create an object type entry and use the attribute group just created as the attribute group.

Creating a Search Criterion to Find Documents

As described in the first section, create an object type entry and use the fixed-definition attribute group _DOCUMENT_SEARCH as the attribute group.

Define the CRM objects Account, Activity, Contract,

or Lead as search criteria for the sales manager role.
