In this process step, you define defect classes and decide whether or not a defect of this defect class represents a quality defect.

Defect classes are used to distribute defects after a defect valuation.

For catalogs of the category C ('damage/defects/reasons'), you can assign a defect class to each code group code in Customizing. This information is assigned to the subject for the complaint item or to the transaction during code selection.

In addition to the defect class, the flag Quality Defect is set for codes from a catalog of the category C ('damage/defects/reasons).

Not all complaints/returns are linked to a quality defect. The flag delivers a criterion to differentiate complaints/returns with quality defects from those without quality defects (for example, complaint/return "Defective Goods" versus "Goods on Approval").

The flag 'Quality Defect' is assigned to a defect class and has two specifications:

'X',,Quality defect

' ',,No quality defect

This information is assigned to the subject for the complaints item or to the transaction during code selection. The quality defect field can be overwritten if required.
