SAP E-Book

In this activity, you can specify which fields are to belong to a field group. You can define the fields to be displayed in the dropdown box, and which are to be displayed in the details screen.

  1. Choose a field group using the input help.
  2. Choose New Entries.
  3. Enter the respective data. The most important fields are as follows:
Field Group Var.
If you wish to call a specific variant using the program, enter the name of the variant.
View
If you would like to use a view-specific display, enter the key for the view.
Screen Item
Numerical value that defines the sequence of fields. This information is maintained by the layout generator. SAP recommends that you assign values in units of 10.
Reference Group
Generic field group. Recursive foreign key for embedding groups of subfields. If you specify a reference group, you have to also select a group type.
Field Name
A field in the screen structure that you have assigned under Field Group Structure. The field is assigned to this field group.
Group Type- Type of reference group
Screen Sequence Group: Fields of the specified reference group are displayed in a frame that is also assigned the field group description. Group fields in an interface group together if they belong together from the point of view of their contents, and you wish to make this clear to the user.
Group Checkbox: The fields of the specified reference group are assigned a name, and displayed as checkboxes.
Field Merging: Fields of the specified reference group are merged into a common column. This can be useful for fields containing steet and house number, or value and currency.
Logical Group: Fields of the specified reference group are left as close to each other as possible during layout generation. This means, for example, that there is no line break between fields.
Include Group: This is used exclusively for the logical structuring of field groups, and has no effect on the layout.

Combo box
Time combo box - When you select this field category, a listbox is displayed in its respective position from which you can choose or enter time data.
Input Help
If you wish to call up complex input help, enter the technical name for the application. This makes it possible for the user to select a value.
Default Value
The value that you enter here is shown on the People-Centric UI in an input field, and can be overwritten.
Field Name -> Object Type
Specify in which field the information about the object type can be found. This can be useful where lists are mixed, for example the Interaction History in a list with Activities, Sales Orders and so on.
Field -> Object ID
Specify in which fields the object key can be found.
Detail Screen Height

Detail Length
Field length in detail screen
Not in List
If you activate this checkbox, the field is only displayed in the detail screen, and not in the list display.
Not in Detail
If you activate this checkbox, the field is only displayed in the list
display, and not in the detail screen.
Mandatory Field
if you activate this checkbox, the field is marked in the People-Centric UI as a mandatory field with a red asterix. This forces the user to make an entry in this field, otherwise processing cannot continue. SAP recommends that this field is only seldom activated, as otherwise the work flow is continually interrupted.
Even if a field is marked as mandatory, you are still only required to make an entry if this field can be seen on the PC UI. If it is not displayed as a result of personal settings, or is located on a different tab page, you are still able to save the object. Therefore, all mandatory fields must be defined as such in each application. They are then also marked on the PC UI with a red asterix. The PC UI does not check the content of the field. This check takes place in the application. A message in the application log informs you if a mandatory field has not been filled.
Without Description
The field should be displayed on the People-Centric UI without a description.
Domain Values
If you activate this checkbox, a list field for value selection is displayed. Data for the list field is read from the corresponding domains.
New Row
If you activate this checkbox, the algorithm for generating the People- Centric UI starts a new row with this field. This is also the case if entry would fit in the previous row.
Send Inquiry
If you activate this checkbox, an inquiry is sent to the server if field contents change. You can only activate this for input fields with F4 help and for dropdown lists. You should activate it if your application should react immediately when an entry is made. If this is not necessary, you should not do this for reasons of performance.
